Capt. Benjamin CAVE
Hannah BLEDSOE
Husband:  Benjamin CAVE
Birth:  1703, probably VA
Death:  1762, Orange Co., VA
Disposition:  buried Pine Stake Church Cemetery/Montebello, Orange Co., VA

Father not:_Rev. William CAVE, Canon of Windsor, Chaplain to King Charles II
Mother not:_Anna STONEHOUSE

A phony genealogy by an Englishman named Tyrell gives Benjamin's parents as Canon CAVE & Anna STONEHOUSE.  But Anna died in 1691, so it is impossible for her to be Benjamin's mother, and there is no indication that Canon CAVE took a second wife.  The will of Canon CAVE mentions no living wife and no living sons, only daughters and one deceased son named Ralph (i.e., no son Benjamin, living or dead).

Marriage:  ca. 1727, Spotsylvania Co., VA
Wife:  Hannah BLEDSOE
Birth:  ca. 1705-10, VA
Death:  ca. 1770
Father:  William BLEDSOE

Some sources give 1698 as her birthdate, but I don't buy it.  She would have been 29 when she married (five years older than her husband) and 52 when she gave birth to Richard, which simply is not possible (not without modern medical technology and, even today, extraordinary).  It's more likely she was born at least ten years later.

5.  LDS.  Family Search: Internet Genealogy Service: Ancestral File (AF).  Wrongly gives Capt. Benjamin's parents as William CAVE and Anna STONEHOUSE, and given that the LDS seems never to remove errors from the AF, this mistake will be perpetuated forever.
