The Committee of Arrangements, consisting of delegates from San Jose, Santa Clara and Harrisburg Churches, have finally decided to hold the above meeting at the Methodist Camp Grounds, as the most suitable place obtainable, all things considered. It is large and shady, and convenient of access, being situated on a splendid road, between San Jose and Santa Clara. The horse cars run past the entrance very few minutes, night and day. The fare will be ten cents from San Jose, and five cents from Santa Clara; preaching brethren free the whole time. Busses and hacks will also run from the railroad depot. The Committee considered the expediency of making a slight charge to cover the bare cost of meals, instead of spreading a free table, as usual. But the previous State Meeting, that appointed this one, neither authorized, nor hinted at such a change; nor did more than a few churches express a wish for the plan, in response to our printed circular. The Committee, therefore, did not feel called on to assume the responsibility of the departure from long established usage; but preferred to rely on the liberality of the Brotherhood to sustain a free table. In view of the foregoing, it was resolved to commence the meeting on Friday, 22d of September, at 11 o'clock, A.M., and to conduct it as heretofore, over two Lord's days, if the funds placed in the hands of the Treasurer of the Committee prove sufficient. But should funds prove insufficient, they will before they are entirely exhausted, report to the meeting and consult them as to whether additional funds be then raised, a pay table adopted for the remainder of the time, or the meeting close. The Brethren and Churches throughout the State are earnestly appealed to to (sic) make as liberal donations as possible, either in money or requisite material, such as fruit, flour, vegetables, meat, etc., etc. We feel in fine hopes to make it a success, in every sense of the word, if we only have prompt and liberal help. Will all Elders, Deacons, Preachers, and Church Clerks specially consult the congregations, and have action taken without delay? We have not heard a word from some churches in response to the printed circular. We would like to hear definitely from every Church, |

x even though the untoward season may render some unable to contribute much. Let us make a special effort in view of the season being somewhat against us. San Jose and Santa Clara churches will do their utmost in every
way to insure comfort and success. Finally, may our social re-union,
as Brethren, be exceedingly pleasant and profitable. May our efforts
to establish each other in our holy faith, to teach "the Way of the Lord
more perfectly, and to gather sinners into the kingdom of God's dear Son,"
be eminently successful. For this end let us work and pray, assembling
with liberal, warm and pure hearts.
