John WYATT
Martha THOMPSON
Mary (__?__) ELWELL
Husband:  John WYATT
Birth:  1784/5, Virginia
Death:  aft. 1850 (prob. IL)
Father:  Mr. WYATT
Marriage-1:
Wife-1:  Martha "Patsy" THOMPSON
Birth:  1790-94
Death:  1840-50
Marriage-2: 19 Mar 1850, McDonough Co., IL
Wife-2:  Mary "Polly" __?__
Birth:  1800, Virginia
Death:  aft. 1850
Other spouse:  m1. Mr. ELWELL
Other children:  Mary E. ELWELL, b. 1831/2, OH
Children with Martha THOMPSON:
1.  Andrew WYATT, b.  1801-4 (but surely closer to 1804); d. 1840-50?
2.  Sinah/Sina/Sinia J. WYATT, b. 1804/5/6  {45, KY}
3.  Nancy WYATT, b. 1806/7  {43, TN}
4.  John Jackson WYATT, b. 1811/2  {38, KY
5.  (Daughter A) WYATT, b. 1810-20
6.  (Son A) WYATT, b. 1810-20

Some sources give Elizabeth WYATT (b. 1801/2, TN) as a daughter of our subjects, but Martha was too young to have a daughter that age.  Martha was even very young to be the mother of Andrew.  Or was Martha consistently lying about her age?  Or did John have an even earlier wife?

Children with Mary (__?__) ELWELL:
none
Data in braces are {age, birthplace} from the 1850 Census.

2.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1810 (Broderbund CD-313):  not found in Christian Co., KY.  The 1810 Tennessee census was lost, except for Grainger and Rutherford Cos.  It is more than likely that our subjects were in Tennesse

These data indicate:
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 males 9 or under 1810-1820 = Son A
= John Jackson (1811/12)
1 male 16-18 1801-1804 = Andrew
1 male 26-44 1775-1794 = John (b. 1784/5)
1 female 9 or under 1810-1820 = Daughter A
2 females 10-15 1804-1810 = Nancy (b. 1806/7)
= Sinah (b. 1804/5/6)
1 female 26-44 1775-1794 = Martha (b. 1790-94)

3.  1824 Morgan County Voter List (online at the Morgan County ILGenWeb site):
1824 Voter List Wyatt, John Dg [= Diamond Grove Precinct]
This would appear to be the other John WYATT in Morgan Co. because our subjects' daughter, Nancy, was married in Todd Co., KY, in 1825.

1830 State Census Wyatt, John IL Morgan Co. p. 15
1830 State Census Wyatt, John IL Morgan Co. p. 18
1835 State Census Wyatt, John IL Morgan Co. p. 44
Based on the State Census, there were two John WYATTs in Morgan Co. in 1830.  There is only one John WYATT indexed in Morgan Co. in the Federal Census, and the numbers do not fit our subject (see the one in the Federal Census).   It will take a page-by-page check of the Morgan Co. census to find the second John, assuming it was the indexer who missed him and not the census-taker.  On the other hand, he may be the John WIAT in McDonough Co., IL.  There are no McDonough Co. records indexed on this CD, so I had to do a page-by-page examination of the McDonough Co. census.  The only WYATTs in McDonough Co. were Widow Fanny WIAT and John WIAT (see next record).

1830 IL McDonough Co. 5N4W p. 96/190 John Wiat 101 200 100 - 111 001 000
These data indicate:
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 4 or under 1825-1830
1 male 10-14 1815-1820
2 males 15-19 1810-1815 = Son A
= John Jackson (b. 1811/2)
1 male 40-49 1780-1790 = John (b. 1784/5)
1 female 4 or under 1825-1830 =
1 female 5-9 1820-1825
1 female 10-14 1815-1820 = Daughter A
1 female 30-39 1790-1800 = Martha (b. 1790-94)
These may not be our subjects.  The parents are the right ages and Martha is young enough to have borne the younger children, but there would have had to have been a massive dieoff of the younger children for John & Martha to show up childless in 1840 — not so far-fetched as I've seen a family lose four or five children in a matter of weeks to diptheria or other contagious disease.  Either that or one of the married children is living at home and the youngsters are our subjects' grandchildren.

As expected, John disappears from the Christian Co. tax rolls in 1820 when Todd Co. is formed.
