Harriet C. TWOUISHMOND Ann Eliza RACY |

Marriage-1: |
Wife-1: Harriet C. TWOUISHMOND / TWISHMOND
Birth: 19 Jul 1831, VT Death: 13 Nov 1868, presumably in Burke, Franklin Co., NY Disposition: buried Ridgeway Cemetery, Burke, Franklin Co., NY There's no such surname as "TWOUISHMOND" or "TWISHMOND." I wish I knew the source of the name, to read it for myself. But clearly this must be a "three-level" error: 1) the clerk mis-heard it, then 2) mis-spelled it, then 3) the transcriber mis-read it. I scoured the 1830, 1840, and 1850 census indices for anything remotely resembling the name phonetically, without success. If you say it out loud, it sounds French, so considering that Franklin County is adjacent to French-speaking Quebec, it's not an unreasonable guess that the name might be French. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
