Plus three boarders not extracted.  It's not unusual for a divorced woman to save face by calling herself a widow (my own grandmother did that very thing).  The fact that she returned to her maiden name suggests the marriage was anulled, possibly on the grounds of infertility — ironically as it happened because it was apparently Charles who was infertile.
