1869 Immigrated to the United States.
1874 his mother married Donald McMurchy, both of New River, Michigan.
Wesley would have been 13 yrs old.
1881 Bought a quarter section of land near Bad Axe, MI.
Colfax Twp, SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4, Sec. 34, Twp 16, Range 12. I have
a copy of land record.
1884 Dec. 24. Sold the property in Colfax Twp. via his brother-in-law
& attorney, John G. Collins. I have a copy of land record. Possibly
was in Lochiel, Dunn County, Wisconsin with his mother, Esther.
1887 6 Jul. Applied for Citizenship. Source-US Immigration
and Naturalization Services application from Whatcom Co., WA. No
record of follow up on final citizenship. Source-Whatcom Co., WA, Auditor

a picture taken on Sucia Island (San Juan Islands, WA) of several people
that is dated 22 Apr 1888. The picture is labeled "Lummi Island Pioneers".

1889 June. Named as a Director of School District # 32 (Lummi island).
1890 census Whatcom Co., WA- Name spelled 'Westly" 38 yrs old,
widower, Naturalized citizen in 1869. Born in Canada, both parents born
in Canada. Has been in the US for 31 years. Working for BB&BLRR as

1911 Listed as "Thompson W farmer" in Peel's City Directory
for the town of Lunnford, Alberta. The Post Office is located on
the bank of the Pembina River about 45 miles Northwest of Morinville in
Twp 58, Range 3 which is the same range and township that he obtained a
land grant. I have a copy.
NOTE: There is also a "Thomson, W farmer" listed in Lloydminister
(Unknown if Alberta or Saskatechewan) in Peel's City Directory. I
have a copy.
1912 June 15. Wesley obtained a land grant of 160 acres of
land near Lunford, Alberta, Canada after he satisfied all of the requirements
to obtain the grant. NE part of Sec 34, Twp 58, Range 3, W 5 Meridian.
In Land Records Liber 500, Folio 28, File Reel #C-6336. This is near
Birch Cove and about 60 miles by road NW of Edmonton, Alberta. I
have a copy of the land grant papers.
1913 April 19 Date written in a Bible as the day that Wesley was
"Born Again". Interesting coincidence-April 19 is Ron Thompson's
birthday. We have a paper that we got from Jim Neyens that on the
side of the page the above was written.
1914 "W Thomson farmer" listed in Peel's City Directory in Lloydminister
(Alberta or Saskatchewan). I have a copy. Don't know if this is Wesley
or not.
1914 Aug 5. Wesley entered the US at Blaine, WA. The U.S. Border
Crossing Manifest states that he had been in the US 1861-1906 at various
places. Born Grey County, Canada, age 53, Widowed, Farmer, Scot,
nationality-CAN., last permanent residence-Edmonton, CAN. No relatives
in Canada, destination-Blaine, Wa to visit mother-Mrs. L J Andrus, r20
#2, money shown $40, ever arrested-no, purpose in coming-perm., ht 5 ft
9 in, comp-med, hair-grey, eyes-grey, no distinguishing marks, class E.

1916 Oct. 20. Entry in Nettie Beach's journal about her having
just met Wesley who came to visit and Janet Catherine was quite worried
that he would return to Ontario to claim the land that his father had owned
as Wesley was the oldest male child.
1916 Oct. 24. Wesley entered the US at Port Huron, MIch., Manifest
states place of birth-Durham,Canada, age-55, widow, Farmer, race-English,
nationality-Canada, last perminent address Edmonton Canada, nearest relative-half
brother Alex Thompson Dwight Ontario, ever in the US-1869-1906 in Michigan,
destination-Bad Aze Michigan to visit sister Agnes Collins, money shown
$7.00, ever arrested-no, purpose in coming and time remaining-perm., ht
5-9, comp-med, hair-grey, eyes-blue. Source-Canada-US border crossing manifest.

from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Source-Application for US citizenship
filed in Bellingham, WA. No follow up paperwork found to indicate
