1. I have no answer for the discrepancies in the dates for the marriage records. The bond must be procured first, before a license can be granted, after which a marriage ceremony can take place (please see my description of marriage records). These steps are usually only separated by a day or two, if not done all on the same day. I do not doubt that the marriage took place in 1818, despite a secondary source saying it was 1819. The fact that the bonds were recorded chronologically in a county record book — these records are not of the bonds, themselves, which are loose pieces of paper — makes for absolutely no doubt that the bond was recorded in 1818. It seems unlikely, in the extreme, that the marriage ceremony took place a year later. 1a. Christian County, Kentucky. Bonds, 1818-1841, White. Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
