John and Nancy have just married, so none of the children in the household are theirs together.  The problem, of course, is distinguishing between John's children from his former marriage and Nancy's children from her former marriage.  Doing so is made especially difficult because we are lacking any prior censuses for John, though we do have Nancy's 1820 census record.  Based on Nancy's 1820 census, she had three daughters and one son (tentatively John A. McNAIL) born before 1820, so it appears three of four boys tallied here as born 1810-20 must be John's sons.  Secondary sources give John a son, Burgess (b. 1824), and they say the Caroline in the 1850 census is Nancy's daughter, not John's.  That leaves us with three daughters and one son born between 1820 and 1830 who could be either John's children or Nancy's.
