James F. TAYLOR
Eliza __?__
Louisa Lucinda [CONNELL?]
WARNING:  It's unclear how many wives our subject actually had.  Secondary sources claim just one (Eliza Louisa Lucinda __?__ or Louisa CONNELL), but it could be as many as four.  The name change of his wife from Eliza to Louisa between 1850 and 1860, plus the 9/10-year gap between the births of sons James and Jesse suggest at least two wives.  On the other hand, one of more of these given names for his wife could simply be enumerator error.  Obviously, we're desperate for James's marriage record(s).
Husband:  James F. TAYLOR
Birth:  1819/20, TN
Death said to be:  15 Jan 1890
Occupation:  farmer, carpenter
Father:  born in VA
Mother:  born in NC
Marriage-1:
Wife-1:  Eliza __?__
Birth:  1820/1, VA
Marriage-2:
Wife-2:  Louisa Lucinda __?__
Birth:  1823-26, VA
Death:  aft. 1880 census
Occupation:  homemaker
Father:  born in VA
Mother:  born in VA

A file at WorldConnect gives our subject the wife below, but shows the marriage as 1865, which casts doubt on the allegation.  However, the grain of truth here may be that this woman really is his wife, and it's only the marriage date and place that are wrong:

Wife:  Louisa CONNELL
Birth:  1823
Death:  1883
Father:  Robert CONNELL
Mother:  Anna "Annie" SMITH; m. 30 Oct 1807, Mecklenburg Co., VA

Children with Eliza:
— born in TN, possibly in Bedford Co., TN:
1.  Lucinda TAYLOR, b. 1836/7
2.  John G. TAYLOR, b. 1839/40
3.  William M. TAYLOR, b. 8 Nov 1841; d. 22 Feb 1898, Velma, Stephens Co., IT [now OK]; m. 8 Feb 1866, Powhatan, Lawrence Co., AR, Nancy Martha COX (1845-1899)

— born in MO, possibly in Finley Twp., Greene Co., MO:
4.  Caledonia TAYLOR, b. 1847/8
5.  James A. TAYLOR, b. Sep 1849

Child with Louisa Lucinda:
6.  Jesse TAYLOR, b. 1858/9, MO, possibly in Wright Co., MO

Sources Sources (n.b., Bedford Co. was formed in 1807; Oklahoma became a state in 1907):

1.  Marriage Record(s):  Apparently, no pre-1861 county marriage records are extant for Bedford Co., TN.

2.  1840 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #38-39 of 190; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1840 TN Bedford Co. Roll 519 pp. 20B-21A Ln. 29 James F Taylor 100 010 - 100 100 no slaves _______
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 4 or under 1835-1840 = John (b. 1839/40)
1 male 20-29 1810-1820 = James (b. 1819/20)
1 female 4 or under 1835-1840 = Lucinda (b. 1836/7)
1 female 15-19 1820-1825 = Eliza (b. 1820/1)
There were 47 James TAYLORs in Tennessee.  Of the ones with middle initials, only this one had middle initial "F."  Although the numbers fit our subject's household, exactly, further confirmation is needed that the one in Bedford County really is our subject.

9.  Gary Smee.  Missouri Surname Researchers: List T (online at freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mosurnames/Index.html):
TAYLOR, William B. born around Nov. 13, 1837, Crawford Co, MO, died around Feb. 26, 1924, buried in New Grove Cem., Wright Co., MO.  He married Sarah Ann Cox.  We think his father is James F. Taylor (I have no information on father or mother Louisa.) Brothers and sisters were John, Caledonia, James and Jesse.  William's children were Joseph, Benjamin, George, Jasper, Rebecca and Sadie.
It appears this guess is incorrect because our subject's son, William, appears to be the William M. TAYLOR who was born in Tennessee in 1841 and married Nancy Martha COX (see next Source and WorldConnect), which means the listed siblings are also erroneous.  For a partial list of William & Nancy's children, see the 1880 census listing (above) and/or a more complete list at WorldConnect.

William M. TAYLOR
Spouce: Nancy COX
Marriage: 08 Feb 1866, Lawrence Co., AR
Source: Marriages, 1821-1967. Lawrence County (Arkansas). County Clerk

11.  Public Member Trees (online at Ancestry.com).
A file there absurdly says James married a Louisa CONNELL in 1865 in "Indian, Penobscot, Maine, USA," and that she was in the 1860 census of Washington Co., VA.  Checking the census, there is, indeed, such a Louisa CONNELL (æ 38, b. VA), but she appears to be the wife of an older man.  Certainly, she's a different woman because our subject's wife, Louisa, was with him in the 1860 census of Wright Co., MO (see above).

12.  WorldConnect / Ancestry World Trees (online at RootsWeb.com/Ancestry.com):
A file there (last updated 2004) shows our subject married in 1865 to Louisa CONNELL, but in "Powhattan, OK Velma Indian Territory."  There is no such place.  Powhatan is in Lawrance Co., AR; Velma is in Stephens Co., OK, which was Indian Territory prior to 1907.  See also Post-em attached to Louisa's father, Robert CONNELL, which shows he married Anna SMITH on 30 Oct 1807 in Mecklenburg Co., VA.
