Morgan STROOP
Sarah Frances MEREDITH
Husband:  Morgan STROOP
Birth:  23 Apr 1833, OH
Death:  19 Mar 1921, Highland Co., OH
Parents:  unknown, but born in VA
Grandfather probablyHenry STROOP, Sr. (1775/6-1859)

Secondary sources have Morgan's parents as Henry STROOP (Jr.), born 1820, and wife, "Betsy Rebecca," but this cannot be if for no other reason than that Henry is too young to be Morgan's father.  This mistake appears to be the result of another mistake, that is, in the mis-reading of Henry Jr.'s census records, where his sisters are taken to be his wife/wives.

2.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #26 of 28 — mis-indexed as being on p. 158):  Madison Twp., Highland Co., OH, Roll 694, p. 157B, 1590/1593, enumerated 5 Oct 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•
Henry Stoop 30 M   Farmer   Va
Rebecca   " 36 F       "
Elizabeth " 34 F       "
Henry     " 74 M   none   "
Morgan    " 17 M   Farmer   O
Melissa   "  3 F       "
Morgan is said to be the son of Henry & "Betsy Rebecca" STROOP, but Morgan is too old to be the son of the younger Henry, and he is not in the household of the older Henry in the 1840 census (q.v.).  The elder Henry appears to be the grandfather of Morgan (and probably of Melissa, too), while Henry, Rebecca, and Elizabeth the children of the elder Henry (i.e., Morgan's uncle and aunts).
