The enumerator seems to have had no understanding of how the record should have been filled in.  George W. STRAUB is Catherine's step-son, not John's, because he's John's biological son from his first marriage.  The two HARDING children have to be Catherine's from a prior marriage, but where is her fifth child?  Has he left the nest?  As John & Catherine have only been married four years, it would appear only Mary and Ethel are their children together.
