The parents, JOHANNES HEINRICH and A.M.E.C. (SPEICHERMANN) STRAUB were massacred by Iroquois Indians during the late spring of 1780 at their homestead on Shinglekill Creek.  This is well-documented in local histories.  A New York State Historical Road Marker indicates the location of the massacre.  Heinrich is refered to as JOHANNES STROPE on this marker.
Loonenburg Lutheran Church Book.
Two of their children moved to Wysox, Bradford County, PA in 1773 and were there caught up in the action of the Revolutionary War.  JOHANNES and SEBASTIAN STROPE married VAN VALKENBURG sisters.  Three generations of the STROPE/VAN VALKENBURG family, which had moved to Wysox, PA, were imprisoned for 3 years during the war.  I have an extensive listing of the descendants of both SEBASTIAN STROPE and JOHANNES STROPE...  I would be happy to exchange information about this line of STRAUB/STROPEs.  My data has been compiled into a narrative-style book and is available.
