OBITUARY
John Straub was born January 24, 1834, at Grosshenbach, Bavaria, Germany, died October 17, 1913, at his home near Flush, Kan., aged 79 years, 9 months and 23 days.  The deceased was married in 1860 to Martina Zoeller, together they came to America in 1861, making a settlement in Pottawatomie county, at the Elbow, staying there only a short time, moving near Flush, Kan., where they have resided ever since.  In 1901 the deceased, wife and son, Anthony, visited their old home in Germany.  Eleven children were born to this union, two, Monica and Otto, dying in infancy; Mrs Clara Holuba, Mrs Frances Prockish, Mrs Mary Winter, Mrs Rosa Tauer, Mrs Cecilia Voelker, Anthony, Henry and John Straub, besides forty-nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Flush and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.

Johann Anton Straub was born in Germany in 1838.  He married Martina Zoeller and they came to America about 1860 with their daughter, Clara.  They settled in Kansas where they had 11 more children.  Information on their children and other descendants is included in this volume.  Descendants now live in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and elsewhere.
