I'd be a little more confident that this George is our subject's son if he had given his parents' birthplaces as Switzerland, but then, they were from a German-speaking canton of Switzerland, so the mistake does not rule out that he is their son.  Also, with his parents deceased, his presumed inheritance would presumably have put him in a position to retire at age 40 (n.b., his brother, William, has also retired).  One of six boarders living with the SCHMITT family.
