Hiram STRAUB
Mary HILBERT |
Husband: Hiram "Hi / High" STRAUB
Birth (date from 1900 census): Apr 1837, Hancock Co., OH Birth (date apparently from tombstone): 26 Feb 1842 Death: 14 Sep 1909, Village of Evart, Osceola Co., MI Disposition: buried 15 Sep 1909, Forest Hills Cemetery, Village of Evart, Osceola Co., MI Military Service: Civil War: 1861-1865, Pvt., Co. H, 57th OVI Father: Benjamin STRAUB Mother: Elizabeth HAAS Based on the records, Hiram's age varies wildly, but I have to believe that the earliest records, specifically, his ages in the 1850 and 1860 censuses (8 and 18, respectively) are most likely to be the correct ones — and these agree with his tombstone. Even though the later censuses place his age earlier, in the 1830s, these ages cannot be correct because he does not show up, at all, in his father's 1840 census record. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal
