Hans STRAUB
Subject:  Hans STRAUB
Birth:  in or bef. 1735, presumably Germany or Switzerland
Religion:  Roman Catholic
Migration:  1751, Rotterdam to Cowes to Philadelphia on the Anderson [or the Billander? (see below)]

Sources (n.b., only males 16 years of age or older were included on these passage lists):

1.  Israel Daniel Rupp.  1876.  A Collection of upwards of Thirty Thousand Names of German, Swiss, Dutch, French, and Other Immigrants in Pennsylvania from 1727 to 1776... Leary, Stuart, & Co., Philadelphia, PA (reprinted 1965/75 by Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD; Broderbund CD-267).
p. 246 Aug. 26, 1751.  Ship Anderson, Hugh Campbell, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes,--fifty Roman Catholics.--236 passengers...
...Christoph Fleur, Hans Straub,* Hans Metz,*...
*the asterisks indicate their names were written by a clerk (i.e., they did not sign their signatures, so were presumably illiterate); this is consistent with Strassburger (below).  Rupp does not have Andreas STRAUB on his list.

2.  William Henry Egle.  1890.  Names of Foreigners Who Took the Oath of Allegiance to the Province and State of Pennsylvania, 1727-1775, with the Foreign Arrivals, 1786-1808.  Pennsylvania Archives, Vol. XVII, 2nd Ser., Harrisburg, PA (reprinted 1967/94, Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD; Broderbund CD-267):
p. 328 List of Foreigners Imported in the Ship Anderson, Hugh Campbell, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes.
Qualified Aug. 25, 1751...
...Christoph Fleur, Hans Straub, Hans Metz...
Among the other passengers was an Andreas STRAUD

3.  Ralph Beaver Strassburger.  1934.  Pennsylvania German Pioneers: a Publication of the Original Lists of Arrivals in the Port of Philadelphia, from 1727 to 1808.  Pennsylvania German Society, Norristown, PA (reprinted 1966/92 Genealogical Publ Co., Baltimore, MD; Broderbund CD-267).
p. 452 [List 162 C] At the State House at Philadelphia, Thursday, the Fifth Day of September 1751.
Present: The Worshipful William Plumsted, Esqr, Mayor.
The Foreigners whose Names are underwritten, Imported in the Billander [Elizabeth], Captain Richgate Castle, from Rotterdam and last from Cowes in England, did this day take and subscribe the usual Qualification.  No. 91.  130 whole Freights.  30 Roman Catholics.  Messrs. Stedman...
p. 453 ...Christoph Fleur, Hans (O) Straub, Hans ( ) Metz, on board...
It is very difficult to understand how Strassburger has mixed up his lists — or, if he is correct, how the other two did.  Strassburger has Andreas STRAUB on the Anderson.  "On board" means that Hans METZ was still on the ship during the oath-taking (the reason was usually illness).
