There's little doubt any STRAUB in Ashford would be one of the Bieringen STRAUBs, but the marriage in Illinois is hard to explain, except that Madison Co., IL, is on the Mississippi River across from St. Louis, MO. Did he meet her on a business trip to St. Louis? A living cousin of (Casper) Joseph STRAUB has undergone DNA testing, so the descendants of Daniel can determine whether he was adopted or not with a DNA test (see link below).
