In the immigration fields for Barbara, there was a squiggle that I couldn't decipher.  It's hard to reconcile Barbara's fecundity numbers with the children in the censuses.  Certainly one or two born in the early 1880s could be married and gone by the 1900s, but that still doesn't provide for seven survivors.  In the fields for the birthplaces of Fred's parents, the enumerator had written, "Indiana," then wrote, "Germany," over it.
