6a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1870 (Broderbund CD-319):  no MI on CD.

6b.  Michigan 1870 Census Index/Images (online at the State Library of Michigan web site [link died]):  Midland P.O., Jasper Twp., Midland Co., MI, p. 123A, 19/19, enumerated 26 Jul 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Sias Solomon 68 M W Farm Laborer     Canada E 11, 12
____ Julia 50 F W Keeps House     New York
____ Ashley 19 M W At Home     New York 11
Crunb Ethlinda 19 F W At Home     Illinois
"11" = father of foreign birth; "12" = mother of foreign birth.  Living two doors down from Solomon's brother, John SIAS.  John was born in Vermont, and it does not indicate on his record that his parents were foreign-born.  It appears the census-taker (or the informant) made an erroneous assumption regarding Solomon's parents based on the fact that Solomon was born in Canada.

7.  Messages in the Sias Family Genealogy forum (online at GenForum).   Solomon (68, Canada) is said to be in the 1870 Census of Jasper, Midland Co., MI, with Julia (50, NY), Ashley (19, NY), and Ethlinda? C??? (19, IL).  See also sketch of son John A. SIAS in Chapman's (1884) "Gratiot Co. Biographical Sketches."
