Joseph SIAS
Subject:  Joseph SIAS
Alive in 1801, possibly living in Genesee [now Wyoming] Co., NY

Source:

1.  Janet Wethy Foley, ed.  1941.  "Subscribers' Exchange." Early Settlers of New York State 7(12): 569-570 (Broderbund CD-183).  On p. 569:
The following notes are taken from an old account book used by James Hickcox and now owned by a descendant, Lucy Silver, of Perry Center, N.Y.  Mr. Hickcox probably began the records just before he came to Genesee County, now Wyoming County...
May 9.  Joseph Sias commenced work...
...1799... Rufus Chamberlain...
1801... Joseph Sias...
Items in the journal are definitely not in chronological order, nor is the year or purpose of an entry always given, nor are we told when James Hickox moved to Genesee [now Wyoming] Co., nor from where, so we have no secure location for this record of Joseph SIAS.  The presence of a CHAMBERLAIN may indicate a relationship to Capt. Benjamin SIAS, whose son, Samuel, married two CHAMBERLIN sisters.  The 1790 Census shows Capt. Benjamin with an unaccounted-for son born before 1774 — could this Joseph be that son?  I don't offhand recognize any other surnames in the journal as being related to SIAS.
