Anna is obviously deceased, but there are two possible interpretations for the rest of the record: one is that one of John's married children is living with him, making the little girl his granddaughter; the other is that John has remarried and the little girl is his daughter. Listed one line above David STROUP.

If I had to guess, I'd say Elmina is the widowed daughter of the RUTLEDGE's, the widowed daughter-in-law of our subject, and mother of the infant Peter. She's listed next to widow Ann HOVIS, who is next to widower Philip CLONINGER and Ephraim STROUP.
