If Edwin didn't immigrate to the United States until 1858, then George would not appear to be his biological son. It is said George's death certificate names Edwin & Harriet as his parents, but that would be likely even if George was adopted. It's unfortunate that I can't find them in the 1860 census. If George was adopted, there may be court records of the adoption or guardianship.

If their mother truly is "Sarah A.," then Harriet must be his second wife. So, is George a child of Harriet's from a prior marriage or Edwin's?
