Robert ROSE
Johanna CRAWFORD
Husband:  Robert ROSE
Birthdate:  ca. 1731
Birthplaces:  Bedford Co., PA; Long Island, Suffolk Co., NY; Hunterdon Co., NJ
Deathdate:  1784; bef. 14 Apr 1788
Deathplaces:  Sleepy Creek, Frederick (sic) Co., WV; Westmoreland Co., PA; Fayette Co., PA

Secondary sources disagree as to his birth/death locations.  Note also that Sleepy Creek is in Morgan Co., WV, and that Frederick Co. is in VA.

Some secondary sources give our subject these parents:

Father:  William ROSE (1680- ) of England and Philadelphia, s/o Sir Hill ROSE (c1650-1720) of Liverpool, England
Mother:  Jane __?__
Migration:  arrived Philadelphia 3 Dec 1699 on the ship, Canterbury, Capt. Fryers, master

but they cannot be his parents because Jane cannot have been married in 1699 and still be young enough to bear a child ca. 1731.  Also, William is buried in Philadelphia, so presumably he died there, so presumably any of his children would have been born in either England or Philadelphia.

Marriage:
Wife:  Johanna / Johannah / Hannah CRAWFORD
Father said to be:  John CRAWFORD (c1687-1746/48) of Ayrshire, SCT
Mother said to be:  Mary __?__ [some say McCONNELL, some say CAMPBELL]
Children said to be:
Birthplaces of children according to secondary sources vary considerably and inconsistently:  Cumberland Co., PA, Greene Co., PA, Hampshire Co., (W)VA, Monongalia Co., (W)VA
1.  (Capt.) Ezekiel ROSE, b. 1735 (sic); d. bef. 25 May 1818, Newton Twp., Muskingum Co., OH; m1. Mary HYNES/HINDS; m2. Mary McConnell MILIKEN; m3. Mary HIGGINS/HIGKINS
2.  (Major) John ROSE, b. 1747; m. Hannah ADDELMAN
3.  Tychicus ROSE, b. 1749; d. aft. 21 Jan 1793; m. Catherine Wise HORN (-1803)
4.  Rachel ROSE, b. 17 Jun 1751; d. 15 Aug 1832, OH; m. Joseph FRIEND (1741-1806)
5.  William ROSE, b. 1753
6.  Isaac ROSE, b. 1755; d. 1832; m. Margaret LYDA
7.  Abigail ROSE, b. 27 Nov 1757/8; d. 1 Aug 1825/6, OH; m1. Nathan PRIOR (1861-1792); m2. Jacob E. ECKELBERRY (1775-1862)
8.  Robert ROSE, b. ca. 1770

Ezekiel cannot be our subject's son if he was born in 1735, but the birthyear of Ezekiel's first child (in 1774), suggests Ezekiel's birthyear is the error, rather than the connection.
The 12/13-year gap between Abigail and Robert is suspicious — is he really their son or did Ezekiel have a second, younger wife?

Said to have this son, but connection not accepted by all:
John David ROSE, b. 1 May 1761, Augusta Co., VA [now Harrison Co., WV]
The existence of Maj. John ROSE would seem to argue against this John being our subject's son.  Also, it appears most of the above moved on to Ohio, while John David did not.  John PRIOR, a son of Abigail (ROSE) PRIOR, apparently lived with Maj. John after she remarried, which argues that Maj. John is our subject's son, rather than John David.
