William Robards Son of William and Dorcas (Maxwell) Robards, the former a native of Jessamine co., KY, the latter of Scotland.  Born August, 1816, in Jessamine co, KY.  On leaving college Mr. Robards entered the law office of Judge Robertson and took the degree of LL.B. from Transylvania Law School.  He located at Boonville, MO, for the practice of his profession and soon rose to distinction, being elected to the office of Attorney-General of the State.  The date of his death was not obtained.

Centre College was founded in 1819 in Danville, Boyle Co., KY.  It is a Presbyterian College, which is no surprise given his Scottish mother.  Transylvania University was founded in 1780 in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY.  [Since 1865, "Transy" has been associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).]
