"Jaynes" is easily a mis-reading of "Jaques," and all other evidence points
to the IGI reading, above, as correct and this one erroneous.

Italy? Who was the informant, Mary? Ezekiel was born
in NY, not NH, and his parents were almost certainly born in NY, too.
Julia's parents were born in NY, not NJ. If Mary is the daughter
of one of their sons, which her surname implies, then her father had to
have been born in IL, not NY. On the other hand, if Mary is the illegitimate
child of one of their daugthers, then at least the birthplace of her mother
is correct. Listed next to married son, Tilden
RAZY.

While up to this point, there is a great deal of consistent circumstantial
evidence to indicate Julia's maiden name was JAQUES, not JAYES, and that
she was the daughter of Samuel
& Eve (VOGEL) JAQUES, not Zophar & Keturah (McFARLAND) JAYNE
— see alleged connection in next Source — this record is the clincher as
to who she really is. Phoebe
Jane (JAQUES) LISENBEE is the daughter of Samuel & Eve and, as
this record shows, Julia is Winfield's aunt making her sister of his mother.
While Julia was married by the 1850 census, Phoebe was not, and we find
Phoebe with Samuel & Eve in 1850, so there's no doubt who Phoebe's
parents are. There was never any reason to suspect Julia was the
dauther of Zophar & Keturah, in the first place, and this record, alone,
proves she is not. |

Yes, there is a Zopher JAYNE (æ 30-40) in the 1840 census of
Macoupin Co., IL (p. 22B), and there is a Z. JAYNE (æ 48, b. VA;
widower) in the 1850 census of Madison Co., TN (p. 326A). I just
don't see anything in the above to suggest he's connected to Julia (JAQUES)
RAZEY, who was born in New York or Ohio, not Virginia. |
