3.  1820 Census.  Presumably, they were in Missouri, but Missouri did not achieve statehood until 1821, so there was no Federal Census of Missouri in 1820.  There is a James Pinkerton in Madison Co., IL, in 1820, but the numbers from the 1820 State Census (01-09-00-00) don't seem to indicate a newly married couple with an infant child.
