These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 males 4 or under 1835-1840 = Andrew (b. 1837/8)
= John (b. 1835/6)
1 male 30-39 1800-1810 = John (b. 1804/5)
1 female 4 or under 1835-1840 = Apollonia (b. 1838/9)
1 female 5-9 1830-1835 = Daughter A
1 female 30-39 1800-1810 = Lettice (b. 1804/5)
1 person employed in agriculture
Listed next to Price BOYLES (æ 40-50) and near other households with related surnames (e.g., MILLER, BOYLES, HOLBERT, STEMPLE, and HEBB), so we've clearly found the correct John MILLER, in addition to the fact that the numbers jibe with 1850.

3.  1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #73 of 212):  District No. 5, Barbour Co., VA [now WV], Roll M432_935, p. 38A, 482/482, enumerated 15 Aug 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Harriet  "  4 F       "
Is Harriet's age wrong here or is it wrong in 1860?  If her age is correct, why is she listed out of order?  Is she not their daughter?

4.  1860 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #33-34 of 35):  Rowlesburg P.O., District No. 8, Preston Co., VA, pp. 332-333, PN 332-333, 2320/2298, enumerated 31 Oct 1860, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

This Harriet appears to be a different one from the one in 1850.  Was she named in honor of the former one who died?

5.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  can't find any of them, but there are numerous others I can't find who should be in Preston Co., WV, so I suspect a section of the census was either lost or is not indexed.

Without additional evidence, I can't be certain this is our subject, but he is listed next to a LIPSCOMB who is a first cousin of Goulda (LIPSCOMB) MILLER, late wife of his son, John Martin.
