18 Jul 1797 The Sheriff having this day returned the Writ of Adquaddamnum that was ordered to be issued last Court for the condemnation of David Smiths mill seat with the inquest of the jury thereon in the following words (to wit) We the under named subscribers been duly summoned and first sworn to value and condemn a mill seat on the lands of David Smith have been on the place propose by the aforesaid David Smith and it is our opinion that it will not injure the Commonwealth or any other person for a mill to be erected across said stream on the land of said Smith provided the highth of the dam does not exceed sixteen feet high and we do further lay off and condemn acre of ground.  Beginning at a Percinian on the West side of said river thence east four poles to a hickery thence of at angles up the said stream for quantity and we all do further value said acre of ground to be worth Six Shillings.  Given under our hands and seals this 31st day of March 1797; Charles Logan, Sam'l McFaddin, Lemuel Sugg, John Cordry, Shepherd McFaddin, Geo. Coon, Joseph Roberts, David Collier, John Dodge, Joseph French, Jn Minser, Jonas Mentzer, George Man.  And on consideration it is the opinion of the Court that the said mill be established.

*These were certificates for land "granted in Christian County" that was "on a prior claim through mistake."  Fourteen such certificates were removed from various holders at the request of four different petitioners.
