.  Anon.  4 Jan 1980.  "Obituary: Henry Lyons." Waverly Free Press, v. 23, n. 1, p. 2 (online at the Tioga County NYGenWeb site):
HENRY LYONS, the oldest resident of the town of Barton, died at his residence, Lockwood, on Tuesday, December 31st, 1889.  He was born in the town of Barton, September 5, 1797 and had never resided in any other place.  From early manhood, he was industrious and prudent, and in the course of time succeeded in accumulating a nice property, so that in his old age he had enough to provide himself with a comfortable living.

For the past twelve or fifteen years, he has been in declining health and during the past five or six years has not attempted to transact any kind of business.

He was a son of Justus LYONS, who came into this town from Orange county nearly one hundred years ago.  His mother (Anna BUCHANAN) was a first cousin of James BUCHANAN, eighteenth president of the United States.

Mr. LYONS was three times married.  His first wife was Paulina DEAN by whom he had seven children:  Justus C. LYONS, now living in Montana, Polly M. BROWN, wife of Ezra BROWN, of Waverly, Cynthia, now deceased, who was the wife of John TOZER, Cordelia T. GRAY, wife of James GRAY, Watkins, N.Y., Calista LYONS, deceased, Paulina SWARTWOOD, wife of James SWARTWOOD, Iowa and Sarah A. BROWN, wife of Sylvester BROWN, Kansas.

His second wife was Sally BROWN and by her he had five children: Julia Ann, wife of Edward HYATT, now deceased, Joseph LYONS, Kansas, Victoria E., deceased, John B. LYONS and Ella LYONS, Kansas.

His third wife was Mrs. Huldah THORP, who still survives him.

In politics, Mr. LYONS, was a Whig and in 1820 cast his first presidential vote for the unsuccessful candidate, John Quincy Adams. When the Republican party was organized, he became an enthusiastic member of it, and has constantly stood by the watchword "Freedom and right against slavery and wrong".

In early life he held no fixed religious principles, but later he came to look upon these things in a different light, and finally heartily embraced the religion of the Gospel and attached himself to the Methodist Episcopal church of which he died a member.

He was respected as a citizen and neighbor, and at the good old age of 92, fell asleep to open his eyes on the realities of the state beyond the river.

His funeral was held from his late residence on Friday, and as his remains were deposited in mother earth it was done with the full assurance that through Grace his spirit had entered upon a life of perpetual joy and happiness.

.  Anon.  28 Oct 1893.  "Obituary: Mrs. Huldah Lyons."  Probably published in the Waverly Free Press, v. 26, n. 42 (online at the Tioga County NYGenWeb site):
MRS. HULDAH LYONS, widow of the late Henry LYONS, died at her home in Lockwood last Sunday afternoon.  She was seventy-three years of age and, with her husband, had been a resident of that vicinity for more than fifty years.  She was a truly consistent Christian woman, loved and respected by all who knew her.  Two children survive her, L. D. THORPE, of Myersville, Pa., and Mrs. David SPRINGER, of Salamanca.  One brother is also living, Ira DAVENPORT, of Elmira.  The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from her late home, conducted by Rev. S. B. Keeney, pastor of the M. E. church of Lockwood, of which she was a member.  The interment was in the family burial ground.

.  Anon.  1901.  Progressive Men of the State of Montana.  A.W. Bowen & Co., Chicago, IL (online at the University of Montana at Missoula Mansfield Library web site).  On p. 722:
JAMES H. LYONS... He was born in Tioga county, N.Y., on April 4, 1856, the son of Justus C. and Amanda B. (Southwick) Lyons, natives of Tioga and Orange counties, N.Y., who had six sons and two daughters.  His paternal grandparents were Henry and Sarah (Dean) Lyons, both born in Tioga county, where the former died in 1898 (sic 1889) at the venerable age of ninety-eight (sic 92) years.  The great-grandfather, Jesse Lyons, a native of England, emigrated to America in the early Colonial days, establishing his home in New York city, on or near the site of Trinity church. Justus C. Lyons removed to Wisconsin in 1864 and engaged in farming and dairying until 1883, when he removed to Montana and located on Mill creek, where he is still living on his ranch; his wife, however, passed away in 1874...
Most secondary sources show the father of Henry to be Justus LYONS.  Or was he Jesse Justus LYONS, as one of Henry's nephews was so named?  These secondary sources, however, show the grandfather of Henry as another Henry LYONS (c1750-1780) of France and Orange Co., NY.  I've yet to find documentation to support either.
