Edith Lovern Landreth
PRINCETON Edith Lovern Landreth, age 95, of Princeton, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea following a short illness.

Born on May 20, 1912 in Crystal, she was a daughter of the late Dow Lovern and Flora Scott Lovern Carrico.  She was mentored by China Harless of Crystal as a young youth.  Mrs. Harless encouraged her to attend Concord College in Athens. She received her BS in elementary education and taught 22 years in Mercer County, 2 years in McDowell County and 16 years in Pinellass County in Largo, Fla.

She was a 50-year member of the OES Rock Chapter No. 130, and was a former member of the Valley Woman's Club in Green Valley and was a member of the Maple View Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton R. Landreth; brothers, Eugene Lovern and Hartzell Carrico; and sisters, Alma Hawkins and Else Shumate.

Left to cherish her memories are: Her daughter: Kazan Shaver and husband Robert of Lewisburg; granddaughter: Jennifer Baker and husband Rick of Lewisburg; two great granddaughters: Jessica and Laura Baker of Lewisburg; one sister: Margaret Magdalena of Harlingen, Texas; two brothers: Bill Carrico and wife Jean of Bluefield, John Carrico Jr. of Princeton; four nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Minister Tony Reed and the Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Order of the Eastern Star No. 130 will conduct services at 2:30.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Landreth family.
