Edmund B. LAWYER
Minnie STRAUB |
Husband: Edmond / Edmund / Edward / Edwin B. LAWYER
Birth: Jul 1862, OH Occupation: foreman Father: Isaac P. LAWYER (1825/6- ) Mother: Martha H. TAYLOR (1825/6- ) I have no explanation for why our subject's given name varied from census to census; however, it isn't the first time I've seen these given names used interchangeably. Perhaps, as with Hester and Esther, which appear entirely interchangeable in historic records, they did not see the distinction we make between these names. It may also be that our subject, having been orphaned as a child, only knew himself as "Ed," but was embarrassed to admit he didn't know his full given name, so gave one inconsistently; and, in which case, we would have to choose "Edmund," from the 1870 census, as the correct name because it's the only census where our subject appears with his parents, and they surely knew what they named their son! |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
