The card image is blurred and hard to read.  Civil War pension applications generally contain a great deal of genealogically useful information, so it would be well worth obtaining copies from NARA.

7.  A history of the 14th Illinois Infantry Regiment (online at www.civilwararchive.com):
The regiment was organized in Jacksonville, [Morgan Co.,] IL, on 25 May 1861 (n.b., Miles enlisted on that date).  The regiment's service record begins…
SERVICE.--Moved to St. Charles, Mo., thence to Hannibal, Jefferson Barracks and Rolla, Mo., July - August, 1861.  Advance toward Columbus August 29 - September 8.  Join Fremont's Army at Tipton, Mo., October 1.  Fremont's advance on Springfield, Mo., October 13 - November 3.  Moved to Sedalia, thence to Otterville, and duty there until February, 1862.  Moved to St. Louis, thence to Fort Donelson, Tenn., February 1-16.  Capture of Fort Donelson February 16.  Expedition to Crump's Landing and occupation of Pittsburg Landing, Tenn., March 14-17. We don't actually know if Miles died on the battlefield, but if so, it appears he would have died in the Siege of Corinth, MS.
