A farmer and surveyor. Attended schools at Saline, Washtenaw County, and the Rochester Academy in Oakland County, Michigan. He took up the study of surveying during the summers and assisted in making surveys and drawing maps in northern Michigan, and removed to Shiawasse County in 1866. A Supervisor and Justice of the Peace in both Livingston and Shiawasse counties. He was a member and trustee of

p. 517 the Methodist Episcopal Church of Owosso, Michigan. A Democrat until the organization of the Republican party, and a Prohibitionist in 1884. (Portrait and Biographical Album of Clnton and Shiawasse Counties, Michigan [1891], p. 681.) Mrs. Hopkins was living in 1916 at Fort Benton, Montana.
