Genevieve was born in Baden, not Michigan.  The big question is where Emma and Matilda were born.  If they were truly born in Michigan, before Valentin & Maria immigrated to the U.S., then they are probably Louisa's children from her prior marriage.  If I could only find Louisa in the 1870 census, we'd know the answer.  The only child here who is both Valentine's and Louisa's is Fred.
