Geographical Note: Our GRONINGER ancestors are from Kuchen, in the valley of the Fils River in southern Germany. Administratively, Kuchen is currently in the Göppingen Dist. (Kreis), Stuttgart Region (Regierungsbezirk), state (Land) of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The geographical history of Germany is, however, extremely complex; the administrative divisions change often and significantly as you go back in time. So, while I usually try to give a location both as it was known at the time and currently (e.g., as I have done, here, with the two Pennsylvania locations), I'm not even going to attempt to do the same for Kuchen. For purposes of this record, the location will simply be "Kuchen, Württemberg," meaning the Duchy of Württemberg, not the German state of Baden-Württemberg because, at the time, Germany did not exist as a nation, nor were Baden and Württemberg unified. |

On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
