John FRIZZELL
Martha Ann HOWELL
Elizabeth SMITH
Husband:  John FRIZZELL / FRIZZLE
Birth:  01 Jan 1812, OH
Death:  Sep/Oct 1858, Washington Twp., Elkhart Co., IN
Will signed:  1 Sep 1858
Will proved:  8 Oct 1858
Occupation:  farmer
Father:  Solomon FRIZZELL, in 1820 census of Fairfield Co., OH
Mother:  Ruth __?__, widow in 1830 census of Fairfield Co., OH
Marriage-1:  5 Jul 1835, Fairfield Co., OH
Wife-1:  Martha Ann HOWELL
Birth:  25 Jan 1815
Death:  1836-40, Fairfield Co., OH
Occupation:  homemaker

The fact that Ruth was Martha's only child suggests she died closer to 1836 than to 1840.

Marriage-2:  2 Dec 1841, Miami Co., OH
Wife-2:  Elizabeth SMITH
Birth:  15 Jan 1816, Wuerttemberg [Germany]
Death:  9 Nov 1898, Hayes Twp., McPherson Co., KS
Occupation:  homemaker
Other Spouse: m2. 14 Feb 1865, Elkhart Co., IN, Solomon HUFF; m3. 8 Jan 1871, Elkhart Co., IN, William SWINEHART

I find it hard to believe someone named "SMITH" was born in Wuerttemberg.  Either she was "SCHMIDT" or she had a prior husband named SMITH, and given her age when she married John, it likely was her second marriage.  There were several marriages between a male SMITH and a female Elizabeth in Fairfield Co., OH, during the late 1830s that could have been this Elizabeth, so they need to be checked out (to see if the husband died before 1841).

These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 20-29 1810-1820 = John (b. 1812)
1 female 4 or under 1835-1840 = Ruth (b. 1836)
1 female 15-19 1820-1825 = ?
1 person employed in agriculture
It appears that Martha (b. 1815) is deceased and that John has a teenager — possibly his younger sister — keeping house and caring for Ruth.
