Sources:

1.  Family Quest Archives:  Pennsylvania Federal Census 1790:  Montgomery, Westmoreland (part), Allegheny, Washington, Bedford, Franklin, York, Northumberland, Mifflin (part), and Philadelphia Counties.  Heritage Quest  CD M637-9:  There are no ELYs (or var.) in Northumberland Co. — the Northumberland census is not organized by township, so I checked every entry for the entire county.  There is a George EAGLE, but that's the closest I found.

2a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1800 (Broderbund CD-312).  Please see my WARNING regarding use of this database — the numerical data have the genders switched.  See also George ELY of Earl Township as an example.

2b.  1800 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #2 of 6; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1800 PA Northumberland Co. p. 670 Ely George Senr 01111-02001-00
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 10-15 1784-1790 = Asher (b. 1788)
1 male 16-25 1774-1784 = Samuel (b. 1782)
1 male 26-44 1755-1774 = John? (b. ca. 1770)
1 male 45 or over in or bef. 1755 = George (b. 1745)
2 females 10-15 1784-1790 = Daughter? B
= Daughter? A
1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1755 = Susannah (b. 1746)
Most of the older children were married at this point.  The younger girls may not be their children.  Is the older male really John?  He is said to have died in Indiana in 1800.  Also in Northumberland Co.:  sons George ELY, Jr. and Caleb ELY

3a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1810 (Broderbund CD-313):
1810 Ely, George Northumberland Co. Shamokin Twp. p. 265
Also in Northumberland Co.:  sons George ELY, Jr. and Caleb ELY — and a Jacob ELY, in East Buffalo Twp. (who is he?).

3b.  Family Quest Archives:  Pennsylvania Federal Census 1810:  Northumberland, Potter, Somerset, Venango, and Warren Counties. Heritage Quest CD M252-53.
1810 PA Northumberland Co. Shamokin Twp. p. 265 Ely George Far[mer] 00111-00011-00
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 16-25 1784-1794 = Asher (b. 1788)
1 male 26-44 1765-1784 = Samuel (b. 1782)
1 male 45 or over in or bef. 1765 = George (b. 1745)
1 female 26-44 1765-1784 = ?
1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1765 = Susannah (b. 1746)
If the younger female was one of their widowed daughters, we would expect some children in the household.  Could she be Samuel's wife, with no children yet because they are newly married?

4.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1820 (Broderbund CD-314):  only one George found, who is presumably the son of our subject.  Susanna is living with her son, Asher.
