Furgeson, James, Jr. Elliott, Nancy Feb 18, 1847 Knox Co.
Cannot find a remarriage of Widow Nancy, unless this is she, but she should have married under her married name, DUDGEON, not her maiden name.

2.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1800 (Broderbund CD-312):  no Simon DUDGEON (or variation) on this CD.

3.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1810 (Broderbund CD-313):  no Simon DUDGEON (or variation) on this CD, but Simon's father, Thomas DUDGEON, is in Delaware Co., NY, where he is said to have died in 1815.  Simon's brother, Thomas Jr., is also in Delaware Co., NY.

4a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1820 (Broderbund CD-314):  no Simon DUDGEON (or variation) on this CD, but Simon's brother, Hugh DUDGEON, is still in Delaware Co., NY, as is Anna (McFARLAND) DUDGEON, widow of Simon's brother, Thomas, and Lochlan McGUIRE, husband of Simon's half-sister, Betsy DUDGEON.  There is a Moses DUDGEON in Knox Co., OH, who would appear to be Simon's brother, except that he's too old by five years, but this may be census-taker error or an error in Moses's presumed birthdate.  Also in Knox Co., OH, is Simon's brother-in-law, Young LOVE, husband of Ann DUDGEON.

4b.  An Index and Transcription of the 1820 Census of Knox Co., OH (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):  no Simon DUDGEON that I can find, only Moses DUDGEON (age 45+) and Samuel DUDGAR (age 26-44):
1820 OH Knox Co. Jackson Twp. p. 19A Samuel Dudger? 100010-10010-0100

= Charles (b. 1815)

1 male 26-44 1775-1794 = Simon (b. 1776)
1 female 9 or under 1810-1820 = Jane (b. 1813)
1 female 26-44 1775-1794 = Nancy (b. 1790)
1 engaged in agriculture
This record is probably not of our subject, but it the closest record I could find, and it could be census-taker error.  Tax rolls need to be consulted to determine exactly when Simon appeared in the county.

5a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315):  Simon was entirely missed by the indexer, even though other names on this page were indexed, including the mis-indexing of Rebecca DUDGEON, widow of Simon's brother, Moses, as "Babua Dugeon."  "Babua" was a misreading of "Rabeca."  I will grant that the handwriting in this census is truly dreadful, and it's a great advantage to know the names of who should be there.

1 female 20-29 1810-1820 = Jane (b. 1813)
1 female 50-59 1780-1790 = Nancy (b. 1790)
Thomas didn't marry until 1841 and Charles didn't marry until 1842, so both should still be at home; however, Thomas married in Knox Co. and Charles married in Allen Co., so it must be Charles who has left the nest.
