This has to be our subject.  He's listed two lines below his father, Basil DARBY (æ 50-60, plus family and six slaves), had to have been in Mississippi in 1840, would have been in his 20's, and should have two young sons — and Basil is not known to have had a son, Joseph.  It all fits — and I don't find him elsewhere.
