Lloyd BRIGGS appears to be Annie's son from a prior marriage (a record from the 1880 Blair Co., PA, census finds a widowed servant, Annie BRIGGS, age 32, and a 5-yr-old Lloyd BRIGGS living in their employer's household), which would also explain the distinction made between Lloyd and Bertha.  Bertha CUPP is probably an orphaned grandchild or niece.  One would have guessed that Francis CUPP was Samuel's son, but there is no son of Francis's name or age living with Samuel in the 1880 census, so presumably he is a nephew.
