They are living next door to George's parents, Conrad & Miranda (COLE) CUPP. It makes no sense that George, a young farm laborer, would own his own farm free and clear — even his father's farm is still mortgaged. And if George owned his own farm, his occupation would be "farmer," not "farm laborer" — nor could he possible have been "out of work" for four months. The enumerator had put a farm schedule number in column 28, then erased it and given the number to the next head-of-household. It appears even the enumerator recognized his error, erasing the erroneous entry in column 28, but then failing to erase the erroneous entries in columns 25-27.
