Daniel CORBIN
Mary BADGER
NOTE:  Daphne GAWNE is offering to subsidize a 67-marker Y-DNA test for a patrilineal descendant of our subject (this is a $248 value!).  Conditions are 1) that the individual be a male surnamed CORBIN with a patrilineal (direct male line) descent from this Daniel CORBIN; 2) that he share his patrilineal genealogy in sufficient detail that we are satisfied his connection to Daniel is solid; 3) that he join the CORBIN Y-DNA Surname Project based at FamilyTreeDNA; 4) that he sign the release allowing sharing of his results, which is a requirement of joining the CORBIN DNA project, including the uploading of his result to Ysearch (a public database sponsored by FTDNA).  Note that sharing of results does not necessarily mean sharing of his identity with anyone other than Ms. GAWNE and the project administrator.  If you are interested, please contact the project admin.
Husband:  Daniel CORBIN, Sr.
Birth:  1766, CT
Death:  1850-60, probably in Bethel, Windsor Co., VT
Event:  1797, Freeman's Oath, Roxbury, Orange [now Washington] Co., VT
Marriage:  29 Sep 1794, Randolph, Orange Co., VT
Wife:  Mary "Polly" BADGER
Birth:  10 Sep 1771, CT
Death:  15 Feb 1871, Stockbridge, Windsor Co., VT
Father:  Mr. BADGER
Mother:  Harriet __?__

Polly is said to have been born in "Sturbridge, CT," but Sturbridge is in Massachusetts.

Children:
— born in VT:
  1.  Daniel CORBIN, Jr., b. 17 Dec 1795
  2.  Hannah Smith CORBIN, b. 8 Jul 1798; m. 18 Nov 1830, Randolph, Orange Co., VT, Artemus BANISTER (1804-1879); 1850 census, Randolph, Orange Co., VT

— born in Randolph, Orange Co., VT:
  3.  Roswell CORBIN, b. 17 Jun 1800
  4.  James Madison CORBIN, b. 6 Feb 1801; d. 9 May 1891, Mexico, Miami Co., IN; m. 13 Apr 1835, Sandusky Co., OH, Sophia POOL (1800-1862)
  5.  Lyman W. CORBIN, b. 6 Aug 1802
  6.  Mary "Polly" CORBIN, b. 8 Feb 1804; d. 6 Feb 1883, Pithole City, Venango Co., PA; m. 30 Dec 1837, Randolph, Orange Co., VT, Harvey COPELAND (1799-1883)
  7.  Marshall CORBIN, b. 6 Sep 1807; m1. Sarah __?__ (1808-); m2. Fanny __?__ (1801-)
  8.  Harvey W. CORBIN, b. 4 Jun 1813 or 4 May 1816
  9.  Susanna / Susan CORBIN, b. 4 Jun 1817; d. by 1820
10.  Caroline CORBIN, b. 14 Apr 1820
11.  (Son?/Grandson?) CORBIN, b. 1820-25

Mary would have been 48 years old when Caroline was born, which is an extremely late birth for any woman.  Is Caroline really a granddaughter?  A later child is even less likely.

I'm troubled by the duplicate entries in Randolph and Roxbury (see Sources below), especially the entry for Polly.  I wonder if two different Daniel CORBINs, who each married a Mary, aren't being mixed up.  Secondary sources are accepting that they are one couple, and I will go along with them, but I have misgivings.

Secondary sources argue that this is the same couple, but are they?

Where are the rest of the children?  We're missing Hannah, Roswell, James, Lyman, and Marshall.  Is this really our subject?
