There is said to be a permission slip signed by Asher C. Davis dated 4 Jun 1842 in Cordelia Gray's book of Christian Co., KY, marriages (as cited in a message in the Rasco Forum at GenForum) granting permission for an underage Messiniah to marry. I checked the CD for a possible earlier marriage for Emily, but couldn't find one, at least not in Christian Co.
