J. Boothe Carrico, Sr., age 68 years, Bardstown, died at
10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 28, 1948, in the home of his daughter,
Mrs.
Richard Elder in Louisville, where he had been ill several weeks following
treatment at the St. Joseph's Infirmary in Louisville for complications
following a recent major operation. He failed to respond and had
gradually grown weaker, his condition being such for the past two weeks
death was not unexpected.
Surviving Mr. Carrico are twelve children, seven sons, John W.
Carrico, Irvington; Lester and J.B. Carrico, Jr., Bardstown;
Eric
Carrico, Evansville, Ind.; J. Maurice, Perry A., and
James
H. Carrico, Springfield; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Clarkson,
Bardstown; Mrs. Richard Elder and Miss Norma Carrico, Louisville;
Sister
Carmencita and Sister Mary Corda, Mt. St. Joseph, Owensboro,
Ky.; seventeen grandchildren, one brother, Eric Carrico, Bardstown,
and one sister, Mrs. George T. Clements, Springfield.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Edd Carrico, for many
years prominent citizens of this county, Mr. Carrico lived in the Lincoln
community of Washington County for several years but since his marriage
had spent most of his life in agricultural pursuits in Nelson County, near
Bardstown.
Funeral services for Mr. Carrico will be held in St. Joseph Cathedral
at Bardstown at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Interment will follow
the rites in St. Joseph Cemetery there.
Besides a number of relatives, Mr. Carrico has many friends in Springfield
and Washington County who regret to learn of his passing. |

Funeral serivces for J. Boothe Carrico, 68, member of the
Nelson County Fiscal Court for the past 10 years, who died Wednesday, July
28, after a lingering illness, were held Friday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at
St. Joseph's Church, Bardstown.
Rev. Patrick Warren was celebrant of the Solemn High Mass; Rev.
Jerome Lammers, Fredericktown, deacon, and Rev. Louis J. Neiters, Louisville,
sub-deacon. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Mr. Carrico's seven sons served as active pallbearers. Honorary
pallbearers were J. Smith Barlow, Judge Wallace Brown, W.J. Roby, Tom Shields,
Artie O'Bryan, John Wright, J.W. Arnold, Howard Evans, J.M. Sweazy, Felix
Ball, Logan Johnson, Lud McKay, Ernest N. Fulton, W.G.A. Sympson, R. Lee
Beeler, J.F. Conway, Frank B. Wilson, W.H. Samuels, Alfred S. Wathen, Henry
L. Muir, Edgar Stoner, John N. Jones, C.B. Elston, Ballard Jewell, J. Dan
Talbott, W.A. Ice, Charles Samuels, and Jeff Cecil.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral outside the
immediate family were Mrs. H.S. Hudson, Mrs. S.B. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs.
John A. Polin, Mr. Joseph Polin, Mrs. Frank Hamilton, Mrs. Frank Simms,
Mr. and Mrs. Robertson Haydon, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Mudd, Mr. and Mrs. Kent

B. Smith, Mrs. R.E. Gray, George L. Haydon, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Reid, Booker

Mrs. Alma Bell Carrico, 58, wife of Esquire J.B. Carrico,
near Botland, died suddenly of a heart attack at the home of her daughter,
Mrs.
Richard Elder, in Louisville Saturday. Mrs. Carrico had been
a sufferer from heart disease for several years.
Her death was the first in the family. She was the daughter
of the late William E. and Lelia Howard Bell, of Nelson County.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Carrico is survived by sevens sons, Pfc.
John
W. Carrico, Alamo Field, Texas; Lester Carrico, Elizabethtown;
Eric
Carrico, Evansville, Ind.; Maurice Carrico, Springfield; M/Sgt.
Perry
A. Carrico, stationed in Italy; Jimmie and Booth Carrico,
Jr., Bardstown; five daughters, Mrs. Richard Elder, Louisville;
Sister
Carmenciatia and Sister Mary Corda, both of Mount Saint Joseph,
Maple Mount, Ky.; and Misses Nixon and Norma Carrico, Bardstown;
two brothers, Hampton L. Bell, Bardstown, and Austin Bell,
Springfield; three sisters, Miss Hattie Bell, Evansville, Ind.;
Mrs.
B.O. Bayen, Evansville, Ind.; and Miss Carmen Bell, Lebanon,
and eight grandchildren. All of her children except M./Sgt.
Perry
A. Carrico were present for the funeral.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from Holy Trinity Church
at Fredericktown with Rev. Jerome Lammers officiating. Burial was
in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bardstown. Six sons served as pallbearers. |
