2.  1860 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  Daniel A. CREAMER (6, NY) is living in the Town of Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY (p. 79), with his parents, Alfred W. CREAMER (33, NY; boat builder) & Caroline (28, NY), plus siblings.  Listed next to Alfred's parents, Daniel CREAMER (64, NJ; boat builder) & wife Ann (65, NJ).  Samuel McDOWEL (34, PA) and his wife, Eliza J. (18, OH), are living in a tavern in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH (p. 277A).

3.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  Daniel A. CREAMER (16, NY; telegraph operator) is living in Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO (p. 491B), with his parents, Alfred W. CREAMER (43, NY; railroad worker) & Caroline (41, NY), plus siblings.  Kate McDOWEL (8, OH) is living in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH (p. 35A), with her mother, Jennie McDOWEL (28, OH), plus siblings William (10, OH), Agnes (7, OH), Arthur (5, OH), and Susa (sic) F. (2, MO).  Their record begins at the page break, and I'm wondering if that didn't cause the enumerator to err, leaving off Samuel.

4a.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #38 of 50):  Vine St., Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO, Roll T9_700, p. 92B, PN 38, SD 7, Ed 165, enumerated 14 Jun 1880, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1880 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

4b.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  The only McDOWELL family in Livingston Co., MO, is that of Samuel W. McDOWELL (60, PA) and his wife, Eliza J. 5.  Letter dated 25 Jul 1880 (Sunday) from Martha Abigail (HOPKINS) BROWN of Chillicothe, to her daughter, Nellie (BROWN) KIRK (transcribed by and in the possession of Rhenda Green Cedars of Natchitoches, LA).  One line pertains to our subject:
...  Dan Creamer (?) wife is dead...
The question mark indicates the transcriber had difficulty reading the name.
