Adin CLEVELAND
Mary CONYERS
These CLEVELANDs have a common ancestry with President Grover CLEVELAND — see chart.
Husband:  Adin / Addin / Addan / Addon / Aden / Adden6 CLEVELAND /  CLEAVELAND
Birth:  3 Dec 1777, Washington Co., NY
Death:  3 Jan 1833, presumably in Jefferson Co., KY
Father:  Amaziah5 CLEVELAND [Enoch4, Deliverance3, Edward2, Moses1]
Mother:  Sarah MARVIN

There are scriptural names Addan and Addon (meaning "humble") and Adin (meaning "slender"); it's hard to know which of these names our subject's was intended to be, but in his son, Benjamin's, biography, his given name is spelled "Adin."

Note:  the LDS IGI has a family of CLEVELANDs whose father is shown as Alexander (mother unknown) and whose children — Levi, Addin, Elijah, Jesse, John, and Ezer — are shown as born in the 1770s and early 1780s of Jefferson Co., KY.  The 1770s is extremely early to be in Kentucky, and the births were more likely elsewhere, but the location supplied suggests they ended up later in Jefferson Co., KY.  We do, indeed, find an Addin and an Ezer CLEVELAND in Jefferson Co., KY, in the 1810 census.  After 1810, Ezer disappears, and we find Addin as the only CLEVELAND in Jefferson Co., KY, in the 1820 and 1830 censuses.  So, it seems clear that the compiler of these data was referring to our subject, so the problem becomes:  Is Adin's father really Amaziah CLEVELAND?  Or is his father really Alexander CLEVELAND?  Are Amaziah and Alexander actually the same person?  Adin appears to have changed his name to Adam in later years.  So did Amaziah change his name to Alexander?  Both having gotten tired of having an "oddball" name.

Marriage:  ca. 1809/10 — this is a very early marriage for Mary!  Was she Adin's second wife?
Wife:  Mary CONYERS
Birth:  15 Nov 1787, VA
Death apparently:  1860-70, Sullivan Co., IN
