Comment: A secondary source tells me that Delilah was b. 1811 in Hartland, Niagara Co., NY, and that, under the nickname, "Lydia," she married Conrad LEONARD and had one son, Jacob (b. 1835). In other words, that she was not a wife of Elijah CHENEY. If so, we are left wondering why Ray ALLEN (see below) named "Delilah FITTS" as his grandmother — because surely one knows the identity of one's own grandmother. It seems more plausible to me that Delilah and Lydia were different persons (twins perhaps?). |
