Note: A descendant of George BRUCE has been tested for the BRUCE Y-DNA Surname Project at FamilyTreeDNA. He is a 36/37 marker match for a descendant of Thaddeus C. BRUCE (1791/2-1869) meaning they share a fairly recent common ancestor, though no paper connection has been made. These two individuals are Haplogroup R1a and currently match no one else in the BRUCE project (as of 30 Sep 2006). Thus, these BRUCEs are not a genetic match with descendants of Robert the Bruce (1274-1329), King of Scotland, who are Haplogroup R1b1.
