William Jefferson BOATMAN
Margaret Elizabeth BOATMAN
WARNING:  secondary sources do not agree on the parentage of our subjects.  Some show William, as I do, as the son of Robert & Nancy (WILLIS) BOATMAN, with Margaret as the daughter of Jesse & Sarah (HUNTER) BOATMAN.  Others have them reversed, with William the son of Jesse & Sarah and Margaret the daughter of Robert & Nancy.  I do not know which is correct, but the marriage dates of the parents (see below) would lead one to assume William is the son of Robert & Nancy because, otherwise, William married very young.  (In the 19th-Century, the average age for a man at first marriage is 23 and the average age for a woman at first marriage is 19, which dates fit our subjects exactly, as the first born of each couple.)
