Tunstall BANKS
Nancy STROOPE
Nancy M. __?__
NOTE:  there's a possibility here that Tunstall had just one wife, who was lying about both her age and her marriage year in the 1850 census, but I'm going to take the census records at face value and go with two wives, both named Nancy.  Also, if Tunstall had been a widower in 1840, it would explain why he doesn't clearly show up as head-of-household in the 1840 census (i.e., he and his three young children would presumably have been living with other kin).
Husband:  Tunstall BANKS
Birth:  10 Apr 1807, Culpeper Co., VA
Death:  8 Nov 1863, Saline Co., AR
Father:  Baylor BANKS (1755-1815)
Mother:  Anna SLAUGHTER (1760-1818) — Lawrence3, Robert2, Robert1
Marriage-1:  29 Jan 1833, Clark Co., AR
Wife-1:  Nancy STROOPE
Birth:  ca. 1811
Death:  1839-42, presumably in AR

Nancy's parents might be:
Father:  Jacob STROOPE
Mother:  Elizabeth __?__

Marriage-2:  1842
Wife-2:  Nancy M. __?__
Birth:  1821/2, LA
Death:  1850-60, presumably in Saline Co., AR

"M." may be Nancy's middle initial or the first letter of her maiden name.

Children with Nancy STROOPE — born in AR:
1.  Mildred Ann BANKS, b. 1835/6
2.  Richard Tunstall BANKS, b. 25 Dec 1838; d. 21 Aug 1898
3.  Mary E. BANKS, b. 1839/40
Children with Nancy M. __?__:
4.  John J. BANKS, b. 6 May 1846 or 1844
5.  Buena Vista BANKS, b. 1846-48
6.  William Henry BANKS, b. 1849; d. aft. 1920

John's tombstone may say 1846, but the censuses say 1844.

Column 10 is supposed to be a yes or no question:  Was person married within the year?  But this enumerator appears to have asked each couple what year they were married — and don't we wish that had been the standard question for the 1850 census!  However, Tunstall and Nancy STROOPE were married in 1833, so the only thing I can figure is either 1) Nancy STROOPE lied about her marriage year to support her lie about her age or 2) Tunstall married a second, younger Nancy in 1842.  Without evidence disproving the latter, I don't see how we can not accept, at least tentatively, that Tunstall married twice.  (Column 11 asks: Did person attend school within the year?)
